Zippy had to walk

RMNP snow sculpture for 100 years of NPS

Been walking my feet off, sure a change from yesterday. I did a confirmed 4 miles and then more, that should have worked off my morning blueberry muffin.

I walked so far, they sent the Hounds out to find me.

Target Acquired and Confirmed

I did not take a pic, but this guy laid across my feet to stop my walk. Who am I to disagree?

It was a great day for a drive and a walk, nice temps, breeze and NO BUGS.

The lake is very low for the start of Summer
This is the drinking water source for Anchorage and other towns.....A man drowned here last week and they have not found his body. Good thing they filter the water...or do they?

This is a nice place to walk, no plane noise, no road noise, just beautiful views.

Butterflies of many colors were enjoying the day also

This Thrush looked very nice

Another fun day on Planet Earth

Zippy Sat Around

It was a nice sunny day for enjoying being outside. I took a few pics of my neighbors flowers and tested my Zero Gravity chair after Winter storage, still very comfy. No bugs ether, guess they live at 2000 feet.

Piper PA-25 Pawnee
I heard this plane and took it's pic from my chair, as he flew over my house. Those clouds made it a bit chilly to sit, so I folded up my chair and went inside. Ate diner and went to see a movie that is the last of a series. The Divergent Series: Allegiant, was a good show. I would guess the books they were based on were for 10 to 14 year old kids, but we enjoyed them.

  That was our day.

A Thunderstorm in Anchorage!

Started my day by sleeping in, enjoying the Sun

Today was beautiful and sunny as we went down town for a local play. No charge to park on weekends and we found a place easy to remember where we left the car.

This guy watched our car for us

There were very few people downtown, felt kinda odd. This place is a zoo in the Summer.

No photos allowed in the play, but this is the set. Great show

A lot of solar panels facing South

We had diner at a place we both love and then made the half mile walk back to where we had left our car. It is good to walk after a big meal. Then we noticed the weather had changed big time.

Rain, Lightning and booming thunder, oh my

Heavy rain and lighting are very rare in Anchorage. Most years do not have any.

The thunder scared this guy also
The lightning started a small fire, but the fire department got it under control quickly. It was a drive home in very heavy rain and now it is sunny outside again.

Remember those who gave their lives for our freedom. Also be safe in your travels.

A Lot of Warm Sunny Days

This is a pic of our new mall just outside the gate of JBER. We were flying over Debar road on our final approach to land at Merrill field in Anchorage. It had been a fun ride to see how much the Knik Glacier had moved down and it appears to be about 100 feet before it crashed into a granite mountain. So much for the fun to fly down slot with blue on one side and water under and black rock on other side. I had been through it hundreds of times, but now it is gone.  I will ask around and see if it moved during the big Earthquake or just moved slowly.

The weather is warm and sunny for the next 10 days and we had our first wild fire yesterday in the valley behind our house. The airplanes were on it quick and got it contained to 25 acres and the ground guys are making sure it stays out. It was a very low snow year and fire danger is very high right now.

Flew at 2000 feet and killed a lot of bugs on windshield and wings

We are still happy and healthy and auto gas is now $ 2.36 a gallon.

May it be a safe weekend for everyone.
